Photo Basic’s is a simple and fast way to get your photographic foot in the door. The world of photography is HUGE, so I can’t promise you that you’ll know everything there is to know in 90-minutes, but I can assure you that you’ll walk away with a clear understanding of the most important fundamentals. We’ll go through shutter speeds, depth-of-field, ISO settings and then dive into the world of composition.
It doesn’t matter the brand of camera you use or what style, this class sticks to the basics that are common on all cameras. Bring your camera to class so that you can work with the features as we discuss them. There should also be plenty of time to ask questions.
This is a very visual class, which means if you can see, you will learn.

Photo Basics is a new class, here's what students are saying about John and his other classes.
I am blown away by the amount of information and quality of this class. Thank you so much for this, it’s already got me shooting differently! Hilary
Hi John, Just a quick note to say a big THANKS. These tutorials have been invaluable to me as I just purchased my first DSRL. Keep up the good work and I look forward to future photography courses. Regards, Dave Mallalieu.
Dear John; You are a natural teacher. The way you were able to blend information that would be relevant from beginner to advanced (and I am both, depending on what I am trying to do). - Lory Hawley
Thank you for the wonderful class John!
As someone who has been seriously interested in photography for a very long time and who has taught a small bit, John Greengo’s effort is beyond inspiring. His excellent examples indicating much labor and immense dedication were extremely effective in making clear the most difficult of photography’s technical matters. Even a minor pro like myself found many good tips and tricks to remember. - Ron Potter
Hi John, Thanks so much for all your efforts. I’m a 60 yr old woman that has recently taken up Photography as a fun hobby, getting ready for retirement. You have given me more knowledge than I’d ever get out of a book, and I have read a few! I have a Nikon D80, with lots of cool lenses and now I just can’t wait to retire and get out there and really start shooting! Seriously, you’ve given me a new passion for something that previously, I had only been partially interested in. Thanks so much, just wanted you to know how much you’re appreciated!
Cheers! - Bettyanne
Dear John Greengo –
Your classes have been a revelation. As an art director and fine artist, photography plays an important part of my life. You have helped me confirm purchases I made and plan to make. Your visual demonstrations clarified concepts that have always been hard to grasp: depth of field, focal length. You explain them better than any of the many books I’ve read. Thank you, hats and lens caps off to you! - Michelle
John, I’ve taken Photography in several countries of the world and also in art school (MICA), but yours is the first one that I can truly understand and have learned from. I love your style of teaching and appreciate all the effort you put into the visuals, For me they really worked, thank you. - Chris
